Aerom to Present Technical Paper at the 19th ASCE International Conference on APMs and ATSs – Transportation and Development Institute

Aerom is set to participate in the prestigious 19th International Conference on Automated People Movers and Automated Transit Systems (APM-ATS 2024), organized by the ASCE Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI). The event will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 15 to 18, 2024. This conference will be held in conjunction with the International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD 2024) and in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Attending from Aerom will be Marcus Coester, CEO, and Diego Abs, Systems Manager.

Aerom Presentation

Diego Abs, our Systems Manager, will present a technical paper on the innovative application of the Aeromovel system at São Paulo International Airport (Guarulhos), the largest and busiest airport in Latin America. The presentation is scheduled for Monday, June 17, from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM. It will highlight the opportunities and challenges of implementing our automated, sustainable, pneumatically propelled transport system at the airport.
The first presentation of a technical paper on Aeromovel Technology at this event occurred in 1985. Since then, several other presentations have taken place.

About the Guarulhos Airport Project

The Aeromovel project at Guarulhos Airport marks a significant advancement in intra-airport transportation. Spanning 3 km, the system will connect the Metropolitan Train (CPTM) to the airport terminals. This system will replace the current diesel bus service, offering a more sustainable and efficient solution.

Key aspects of the project include:

  • Sustainable Pneumatic Propulsion: Utilizing our exclusive and patented pneumatic propulsion technology, the system will ensure cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation.
  • Comfort and Convenience: With scheduled waiting and travel times, the system will provide greater comfort for passengers.
  • SIL4 Safety Certification: The system will be certified at the highest safety integrity level, ensuring maximum reliability and safety in operation.
  • Launch in 2024: The new system is set to begin operation in mid-2024, becoming Aeromovel’s largest commercial installation worldwide.

Session Learning Objectives

  • Explore the potential of pneumatic propulsion APM systems in building an integrated, sustainable transport network.
  • Understand the new generation of Aeromovel applied at Guarulhos Airport, including energy-efficient systems and advanced control technologies.
  • Compare and contrast European railway safety standards (CENELEC) with ASCE standards for Automated People Movers.
  • Examine the growth of the South American Automated People Mover market, with a special focus on the airport segment.

About APM-ATS 2024 Conference

The APM-ATS 2024 conference will provide a unique opportunity for networking, interaction, and information exchange with global leaders in transportation and development. The event will gather professionals and researchers from transportation systems and infrastructure, operations managers, project/construction managers, academics, consultants, and contractors from around the world.

As urbanization rapidly increases, the importance of innovative transportation solutions like Automated People Movers (APM) and Automated Transit Systems (ATS) becomes increasingly evident. This conference will serve as a forum to explore the future of these technologies and their applications in urban and airport transportation.
