The Brazilian technology was installed in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, in April 1989, and the execution of the work was completed in a short period of eight months. Soon, Aeromovel established itself as a means of transport in a tourist area of the city, located inside the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah theme complex. This was the System’s first commercial operation and made Brazil a benchmark for Aeromovel technology.
The system already implemented in Indonesia intends to expand. In an interview, engineer Ontoseno Soekotjo shares his experience of getting to know the Aeromovel up close in Brazil, as well as discussing the matured expansion project of the technology in his country. Now, the city of Bekasi, located in the Jakarta metropolitan area, is studying the implementation of a 12-kilometer line, similar to the one being constructed in Canoas.
The System operates with three vehicles, covering a distance of 3.2 kilometers, passing through four active stations on a circular line.
