Marcus Coester Joins SemiCon-LAC 2026 as Panelist in Porto Alegre

International symposium brings together industry, academic, and government leaders to discuss the future of semiconductors in Latin America

From June 17 to 19, 2026, Porto Alegre hosted SemiCon-LAC 2026 – the Latin America and Caribbean Semiconductor Symposium, one of the region’s leading events focused on strengthening the semiconductor value chain. Held at Tecnopuc, the Science and Technology Park of PUCRS, the symposium brought together representatives from industry, academia, research institutions, and governments across Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as delegates from global semiconductor leaders including the United States, China, South Korea, Malaysia, and the European Union.

Representing the Coester Group, Marcus Coester participated as a panelist in Panel 6 – Rio Grande do Sul: The Heart of Latin America’s Semiconductor Ecosystem, which focused on Investment Attraction, Logistics, and Infrastructure. The discussion brought together industry leaders to examine the key factors needed to accelerate the growth of the semiconductor sector and enhance the region’s international competitiveness.

Panelists highlighted opportunities to strengthen Rio Grande do Sul’s technology ecosystem through increased investment, improved logistics infrastructure, and stronger collaboration among companies, universities, and research centers. The state continues to establish itself as a strategic hub for innovation and advanced technology, bringing together capabilities that are essential to participating in the global semiconductor supply chain.

SemiCon-LAC 2026 aimed to foster cooperation among countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, encouraging knowledge exchange, partnership development, and strategies that support greater technological sovereignty throughout the region. The event also provided valuable networking opportunities among business executives, researchers, and public-sector leaders, strengthening connections with key players in the global semiconductor industry.
