IMPLEMENTATION SPEED AND LOW COST

The Shuttle Line at Salgado Filho International Airport, in Porto Alegre, capital of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, was planned as one of the works for the 2014 World Cup. the Line was inaugurated in 2013, one year in advance. As it is a type of transport with an elevated track, the project is considered essential to facilitate movement between two important points: the airport and the metropolitan train.

INTERVIEW WITH HUMBERTO KASPER, CEO OF TRENSURB

Based on his experience with the implementation of the Aeromovel in Porto Alegre (Airport Shuttle at Salgado Filho International Airport), the CEO of Trensurb (Jun/2011 to Oct/2016), Humberto Kasper, sees a great potential for demand not only in urban public transport, but also in connecting university campuses, parks, and industrial areas to the metro-rail line, all across the metropolitan region.

Kasper also mentions the advantages of the Aeromovel system, such as cost reduction per passenger and ease of insertion in urban areas. The manager also points out the evolution of Aeromovel’s displacement technology and its competitive differential in relation to the traditional metro-rail transport system.

Line Route

Line Route

The Aeromovel travels for just over 1 kilometer, connecting the airport to the local metropolitan train station. The flow of users of the Shuttle Line is fed by the train, which connects the center of Porto Alegre to cities in the Metropolitan Region, in a journey of 43 kilometers. The System was planned as a quick, comfortable and safe transport solution, reducing to less than two minutes the route that could only be done on foot or by bus. The low maintenance value of an air-powered system is considered ideal for airport connection projects. With two vehicles in operation, the Line was designed to transport around 10,000 passengers daily, at a significantly lower cost than other similar modes.
