Aerom will participate in the 20th International Conference on Automated People Movers and Automated Transit Systems (APM-ATS 2026), one of the world’s leading events dedicated to automated transit technologies. Organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the conference will take place in Detroit, Michigan, bringing together transportation professionals, operators, researchers, and industry leaders from around the globe.
Representing Aerom, Systems Manager Diego Abs will present the paper “Operational Performance Indicators of the World’s First SIL4-Certified Pneumatic Automated People Mover at Latin America’s Largest Airport.” The presentation will highlight the operational performance of the Aeromovel system currently serving São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport, the largest airport in Latin America.
The session will share key performance indicators collected during the system’s first months of revenue service, including availability, reliability, maintainability, operational performance, energy efficiency, and passenger demand. It will also discuss lessons learned throughout the commissioning process, safety validation activities, and the transition to commercial operation.
The Aeromovel GRU system represents several milestones for the global transportation industry. It is the world’s first pneumatic Automated People Mover certified to Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL4) in accordance with CENELEC EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129 standards. The project also stands out as a fully automated airport transit system developed in Brazil and deployed at Latin America’s busiest airport.
Aerom’s participation in APM-ATS 2026 underscores the growing international recognition of Aeromovel technology and highlights Brazil’s ability to deliver innovative, safe, and sustainable mobility solutions for the future of transportation.
