Aerom CEO will speak at MAGLEV 2026, a leading global forum on magnetic levitation and linear drive systems
Marcus Coester, CEO of Aerom, will be among the speakers at the 27th International Conference on Magnetic Levitation Systems and Linear Drives — MAGLEV 2026. The event will take place October 14–17, 2026, in Qingdao, China.
During the conference, Coester will present MagLev-Cobra, a Brazilian magnetic levitation transportation project developed by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The initiative is led by Professor Richard Stephan, Ph.D., of UFRJ’s Department of Electrical Engineering.
Aerom contributed to the project through an agreement with COPPE/UFRJ, developing a new vehicle and the system’s operational control technology.
Based on superconductors and guideways equipped with rare-earth magnets, MagLev-Cobra places Brazil at the forefront of advanced magnetic levitation applications for mobility.
The system currently operates on a 200-meter experimental track connecting UFRJ’s Technology Centers. The facility supports research and testing focused on efficiency, safety and the potential applications of magnetic levitation in transportation systems.
Advancing international collaboration in mobility and innovation
Under the theme “Promoting Maglev Technology Innovation for Global Sustainable Development,” MAGLEV 2026 will bring together researchers, industry representatives, transportation operators, infrastructure planners and public-sector leaders.
The conference will foster technical exchange, scientific collaboration and discussion on the future of Maglev railways, magnetic levitation systems and linear drive technologies.
Key topics will include magnetic levitation and guidance, linear motors, guideway infrastructure, energy storage and power supply, operational safety, control systems, superconductivity, standardization and emerging applications for levitation technologies.
